The faucet

Have you tried cleaning it with vinegar/baking soda/dawn dish soap mixture?

The entire sink should be replaced along with the faucet. It looks like it is very old. A sink is maybe 100 - 150.00. If you get a new sink get one with just the one hole for a proper faucet. Not the 2 handles. That faucet looks like one that belongs in a bathroom not a kitchen. Check out prices at homedepot they are a little cheaper than lowes

You just have to make sure it will fit your cabinet. You will need dimensions.

To be honest I am scared to clean it as the crust may be the only thing holding it together! I will measure it out before I go to HD.

The sink is OK, it does the job. And I was only quoted for a faucet, not a whole sink.

A sink is a minor thing to replace. You really should just do the whole thing. It is not that much more for the sink too.

I know this is all so very stressful, but you're doing a great job hanging in there. I hope the work will go smoothly and fast.

Is that faucet original to the house or has it been replaced since you've lived there? It does look like a bathroom faucet. After you have the new faucet clean the faucet and sink with vinegar at least once a week, also run that and baking soda to clean the drains. You won't believe how much it helps, and it's simple and quick.

It was old when we bought the house, it has been dripping for a while now. I just want to feel like I can trust my fixtures. And $150 install vs. $400 is a bargain. I think the sink is OK for now.

Ideally yes I would have all new everything but that's not financially possible.

150 to install a sink faucet is NOT a bargain. I paid 100 to have a toilet installed. You are getting ripped off

What is that thing attached to the faucet?

Heather it's very simple to install the faucet yourself. I've done mine, took about half an hour. Look on YouTube.

Also, all you have to do to stop dripping is replace a washer. I've been on my own for years, and with raising two sons I couldn't afford to hire someone to do these little chores. Really these things are a snap to do.

The thing on the faucet is a Pur water filter. Ron flips a lever when he wants filtered water and swears it tastes so much better. If it gets him drinking water, I'm for it.

I am just going to let the professionals do it right now. I have not been getting ideal sleep for going on weeks now, just took my meds, etc. I could barely clear a coin jam yesterday.

I was quoted $400 for a new faucet, twice, so I think $150 is a pretty good deal considering. If someone wants to rip us off shame on them. Whatever you believe in (God, universe, karma) will come along and bite them in the ass for ripping off two cripples.

Why does the water filter look so dirty?

You really should have gotten a new sink that one looks rusted and dirty. The new faucet will look crazy on such an old sink.

I never washed the filter. When I make my drink mix it splashes onto the filter.

New sink, yes, with what money? I am lucky to do the faucet.

I'm going to have a purple room, and an orange one, when this is done. It's going to look a little crazy anyway.

Wash the filter it is gross looking. Take the money for the sink from rons vodka money. $500 a month would have paid for the new sink and faucet and install.

If they do the faucet I will be throwing out the old filter and buying a new one.
