Some good news

My Dad offered me a loan to get the house repiped.

We accepted... be idiots not to.. the plumber said the pipes are shot and it's just when, not if.

So you have to be nice to Dad now, he did not have to do that - he offered, I didn't ask.

That was nice of your dad but why get the house repiped when you are moving out and into an apartment? Seems like a waste of money since according to you ron gets the houde and you will be out on the streets.

I guess I am staying for now.

At the very least I was told I am basically getting a whole house remodel out of this.

Is your insurance going to pay for part ?

Pretty sad that the first plumber was unable to find the leak and Roto Rooter found it no problem. You are lucky the ceiling didn't cave in on your head when you were in the laundry room. You never noticed any water stains on the ceiling before the cave in? I am surprised the insurance is covering this issue.

Insurance is paying for everything, worst case we are out $2K, which would be doable over time.

Dad is paying for new plumbing.

INsurance is paying for cleanup, new carpet, drywall, paint. [thumbs up] We had a good company. 90% of my junk is being taken out of the house so I can go through it as it comes back and purge a lot.

ARS was the first company and may they rot. And that is me being nice. I left a SCATHING review on Google.

Correction your dad is giving you a loan to pay for new plumbing which you will have to pay back. How much is the new plumbing. Also surely there were signs of a leak like water stains on the ceiling before the cave in.

The leak started suddenly Saturday, no signs leading up to that. New plumbing should run around $7K they think.

The roof caved in when the plumber started poking at it. If Ron can pay for his vodka he can repay my Dad.

But you said that Ron never pays back any debts that he owes.

True, but WILL he?

Also I’d take this remodeling opportunity to clean out everything. All those stacks of things you never use and the random items just laying about. Your home will be nice and refreshed. And buy a vacuum to take care of your new carpet. I keep imagining the smell of wet cat litter (I’ve smelled it before, gag)

It will be interesting how this plays out with Ron and all his antics.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you!

I will make sure Ron pays this back.

I hope to go through everything as it comes back. I may rent a dumpster and then call them to deliver my stuff, then go through everything and trash what I don't want.

For instance, I don't even want 90% of the wet clothes hanging in the garage.
