A decision about diet soda or WICBO

Arturo mentioned the diet sodas couldn't be good for my teeth.  I decided to do some research, they sure aren't beneficial by any account.

I don't have enough money for more dental work.  I thought about it a few days and decided I would do the WICBO plan that got Ron to stop smoking.

He used to smoke about a pack a week before he met me.  He hates the smell now.  I wouldn't let him smoke in the apartment.  He was pretty broke, too, so one night he had to walk a mile and back (by himself) from the convenience store to buy a "loosey" in the cold and rain and then I made him smoke it out in the weather.  That was the last time for him.

He decided he would stop buying smokes.  Instead, he would do the When I Can Bum One plan.  WICBO.  He stopped smoking pretty quick after that.

I saw him have a smoke in December '99 at his brother's house, he had been drinking, so had his brother.  His brother got out the smokes and Ron got one.  It was so odd to see him with that thing in his face.

Of course he caught the flu on our flight home which went to pneumonia and I had weeks of nursing him out of that one smoke.

Are diet sodas helping my health?  No.  Are they likely harmful?  Yes.

So, knowing that, do I want to keep buying them?  No.

I have some at the house, I will drink them up and then I will stop buying them.  I will drink soda at work and if I am out having an adventure, a holiday at my aunt's, etc.  But day to day?  No.  At the house?  No.

I am addicted to caffeine so I bought some caffeine pills to help me wean off.  I will start with the 200's every day (200 mg), one a day for a week, unless I am going to work in which case I will have diet soda at work.  Then week 2 the 100's.  After that I should be OK.

And it is very easy to stop buying them.

It reminds me of a story I heard from a cab driver (true experience).  Ron and I were riding to work in a cab (not paratransit, they had contracted with this guy to take us to work, Ron could walk so they sent a regular cab).  He told us he used to be "The only functional crackhead".

He used to go out and drive for 12 hours a day, stop at his dealer's house, buy crack, go home and smoke it for hours, get a nap, go back and work.  He did this for some time.  He really struggled with it and prayed for God to help him.

He said he very clearly heard "Stop buying it".  So he drove home another route that night, ate, and went to bed early.   He never had a single withdrawal symptom.  Not a one.  He just had to stop buying and God took care of the rest.

I am not worried about withdrawal for me, but I can stop buying it.

With all I have going on I don't think it's a good idea to add a lot of caffeine to the mix.
