Root canal pending
Well, shit. Hope it isn't as bad as I've heard. If you pray now would be great.

Root canals suck. Are you sure you just don't need a filling? Maybe your stepmom is right if it is not a noticeable tooth I would pull over a root canal any day of the week. But since you have so many missing I don't know if you could afford to lose anymore. You would be surprised at how teeth at to the fullness and structure of a persons face.
Well, about 20 years ago I had to do a 3-4 sided filling. This spring the tooth broke in half. The dentist tried to save me money and did a large filling, which failed. I will write more about it but he hated to give me the bad news.
Options were to pull or root canal. It is a big chomper so I kept it...also (as I will share) I have had utterly horrible extraction experiences. The blood in my mouth, the crunching... I would pay a lot more to avoid that if at all possible.
I did ask if they still had the dentist who could knock people out - I might have done that - but he said no, they did not, and he would have had to refer me to an oral surgeon BUT the guy they had used had just retired... cost was about half that of an implant. Ron has many root canals and does not take care of his teeth, they have held up, many by this same dentist... so I felt OK with my choices and the dentist.

ADDING: You could also have the tooth pulled and get and implant with a crown so you will have a tooth there just not yours. It may be cheaper too.
