Pretty!

Did they really install it over top SODA bottles and other trash? Sweep ๐Ÿงน ๐Ÿ˜Š

That is actually the nicest part of your entire house. One question though why are their water bottles underneath the vanity?

It looks like the flooring doesn't go all the way under the vanity is that just the picture angle?

We're not done yet just seeing how it looked. Flooring will not go all the way underneath (rolleyes) cheap home builders only tiled part of the floor and not underneath. But I like it. It is much brighter with the white vs the old brown I had before.

NOT sorry the leak took out the old vanity.

You can't use that vanity if it is going to show no flooring underneath. You will have to either re-tile the bathroom floor (or just use the vinyl plank flooring in there also OR get a larger vanity to cover the floor so you don't see the missing flooring. Which option will you do? NOTE: If you do get new flooring in the bathroom make sure they also do under the vanity this way in the future should you ever need to replace the vanity you can put anything in that spot and not have to worry about having to cover the flooring.

The bottles are v cute. I would leave them there. Don’t sweep.

Nothing I can afford is going to make it look "right". I didn't even notice underneath until the comments pointed it out. The best option would be to retile the whole bathroom but that is impossible right now, budget and practical use of toilet and shower. So I'm not doing that.

The plumber pointed out this issue when he came out "You're going to have problems". I am just glad I am not stuck with the HIDEOUS linoleum that was left where the tile was absent. The vanity is close enough in size to the area in question, we have to have wheelchair access so we can't go bigger. I'm OK with it, honestly. I had crap walls, crap studs, crap electrical, terrible roof, terrible pipes, etc. A failure to tile a couple square feet is not going to throw me out of the game.

Or, at the end of it, a huge shock.

It won't be that much to put flooring in the bathroom. Do it right or don't do it at all. Get ron to pay for it. He owes you 500 from the bathroom repipe so far.

I don't have matching tile so I would have to rip it all out, it would look horrible. Not interested.

Don't forget I have a lot of things messed up about the house so I am not interested in perfection. Decent is good enough for me. I lived with horrible brown cabinets for almost 20 years. This is still a big improvement.

It's not right.. Dirt will get in that crevice. Just get the vinyl plank in there to. You were going to buy ron a walk in tub for 2000 you can do the floor right

Totally agree. If you can’t fix things right you should t own a home. Doesn’t have to be the most expensive material but do the job right or you’re just as bad as the builder.

Leave all of this to the folks doing the floor and ask them to “fix that please” they will it will be done properly and there is no reason the tiny sq footage it will take will change anything significant in your budget . Discussing it here makes no sense people are mean here just talk to your flooring guys and have them handle it

Btw I adore the purple! It is going to be so pretty when you a re done. Maybe you can crochet a lovely springtime “set” for the bathroom ? Daisys on purple . Why not cheer your world up!! whatever you love! Btw I always had contrasting outlet and light switch covers it was part of the fun of decorating . I found vintage and cartoon and sometimes I Made my own by redecorating old ones. With decoupage

The bathroom looks great and the floors do need fixing it is not that much please have your guys do it ...Your dad would understand and hold payment to get that done I bet . You only have one bathroom
Throw some bars up to be safe and if Ron gets angry as I said before say you are preparing for yourself! You are that is not a lie!

He already installed it and it is caulked in. It is only noticeable if you are standing in the bedroom doorway looking down, which I never do.

I am honestly OK with it, I think putting something else in with the tile would have looked a lot worse, at least to me.

No one was suggesting you “put something else in with the tile”. You would rip out the whole bathroom floor and either pick something new or match to what you are doing everywhere else. I’m surprised “Carlos” or your aunt didn’t advise you against what was done here.

Yesterday you said. You. We're just trying it out and now it's installed. Give me me a break. Did you leave the water bottles under it?

Anonymous said...

They could have taken up the tile and put in the vinyl planks in the bathroom to

Heather Knits said...

Yes, he took out the bottle. He had asked me a few questions over the last few days and I told him "I trust your judgement" and I do. The tile covers the front of the unit, just not underneath. I was not interested in ripping out the tile or putting vinyl planks - assuming I can get someone to do it!

You make no sense the same flooring people could have done the bathroom too.

Heather Knits said...

I have no idea when flooring is coming and I want my sink back.

Anonymous said...

It seems like you’re more concerned about redoing Ron’s room with money that wasn’t granted for that purpose than doing any of this the right way. And too impatient to get your sink back than to have it done right. Too bad your aunt couldn’t have been in charge of things.

Anonymous said...

So all of a sudden you NEED your sink back? You have been without one since before Christmas you could have waited a couple of weeks longer. Had you been more proactive you would have started getting estimates before the insurance claim was paid so you would be ready to go. And there was more than one water/piss bottle just thrown on the floor in the bathroom.

Heather Knits said...

There has never been an issue with the bottles in the bathroom. That's always been the bedroom carpet.

My aunt saw it, but never said a thing about under the sink. I am sure we all assumed the new vanity would come all the way to the floor in the front.

Heather Knits said...

There was also no point in dragging a contractor out here for an estimate until I had the money in hand.

I don't notice it at all in the bathroom and I have been in there several times, helping Ron, taking care of my own business... I just notice the nice white vanity, sink hardware, and sink.

I am currently engaged in trying to obtain flooring because I really want to get this over and done with, right way, so I can get my stuff back and sleep in a real bed for a change. The cats love me but 2+ cats in a cot just aren't working.
