It's Friday, not Saturday like I thought all day

I went all day thinking it was Saturday and only figured it out when I called my parents.

Although I am sure they were interested to hear I just spent $1200 on flooring.  $1275 to be exact, but that comes with underlayment, installation tools, the the little doorway spacers.  I will have my tour of the house video up shortly.  It features a few cats. a lot of cream colored paint, and some satin nickel fixtures.  .

It's done.

Today was pretty uneventful for work.

Ron needs some memory care with it but I did that and have adjusted expectations.  I think some of his memory problems may be related to his use of the painkillers.  Hopefully that will resolve as it clears his system.

We came home and I had a good nap, woke up with a nasty headache that made me want to crawl in a hole.  I had a Hemp Stix (cigarette) and that fixed it.  I need to get some more of those things.

Then I bought the flooring, I already gave Carlos his deposit to do the work.  It will be 1-2.5 weeks.  It was only another hundred to have it delivered to the house so I did that.

I got about 335 square feet of flooring, underlayment for 300 (Carlos told me I need 300), doorway trim - it goes on the floor between... don't know what it is called but it was $40 a piece.  I also got an installation kit for $20 because I wasn't sure if he had the tools.  Better to get it.

Delivery and sales tax took care of the rest.

My stepmother wants to buy me something for the house, so I fixed up my wish list - none of you told me I had the cloth pads on there!  I put that up on Facebook!  Embarrassed!

Anyway, I put it up again:
https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/MEN0OZUC2AU3?ref_=wl_share with notes on what I needed so she can buy what she wants, curtains and hardware or just curtains.  I will take what I get.  It will save me money whatever she buys.

I am very happy with my selections they are very pretty and I can live with them for a long time.

Budget will just cover repairs Ron is on his own for his room.

So you have an idea what is going on with the house now.

You got $11,000 from the insurance so how did you use your whole payment? 3,000 for drywall and paint and $1300 for flooring is only $4300. Plus why in your bedroom why does where the ceiling meets the wall look like it needs more paint? The aqua is my favorite color. The Orange looks more red.

I didn't get $11K from them.

I got $23K, and then Water mitigation and packout got $17K of that. Vanity delivered with hardware was about $400. Paint was a good $500 because you get what you pay for.

Carlos got $240 for doors
Some cash for supplies
$800 deposit on flooring
$3K for drywall and paint
I just spent $1275 on flooring
About $200 on Amazon for various hardware/light fixtures, lighting.

Not much left.

Why do you keep lying?

On January 23rd you posted "I have $11K to make repairs, should be plenty. See, I told you it would work."

Put a heating pad on the other bed (not on high). It will be a cat magnet

Bad math, or Roto Rooter charged more than I thought... but it is what it is. I had to make the purchases and hire the people I did.

I had to have doors, I had to have them painted and installed, new door hardware - I forgot about that - that was $65. Three doorknobs, innumberable outlet covers. I had to have drywall and VERY glad I did that as it has been cold and windy for Houston. Paint. He did the whole house pretty much for a "just the affected area" price because he wants to do a good quality job, one reason he got such a good review.

The point is you said you had $11,000 for your repairs. Quite different than the $6000 you are now saying you had for said repairs. So which is the truth?

He did a very nice job. Don't like the orange room, but if you like it, so be it. :)

@ 8:46, are you like that with your lovers? Do they stick around for long?

Bad math... I do take a lot of brain fogging medication. Insurance had a 2K deductible. I have some left, enough to cover flooring, but that's about it. I am OK with that the damage is almost fixed, I will just have enough to get a dumpster and do my purge as stuff comes back.

@ Orange, it will be good when I am depressed.

If you are that bad at math then you have no business doing the reports. I believe when you said you have 11,000 for repairs that is what you had and now you are not being honest. You don't have to use the extra to pay your dad back faster. He did agree on a set amount.

They sent me 23K, I paid Roto Rooter 17, Carlos got 3... plus supplies.

None of this all adds up thats for sure. You seemed absolutely giddy for so long, over all this, now it s making sense.

Again you said you got a check for 11,000. Roto footer did not charge you 17,000 to use fans in your house for a week. That 17k includes the recipe of which your dad paid 8,000 for. Please stop fudging your numbers.

Mitigation, which included removing the damage, spraying chemical in the walls, drying me out, clean out (and return, eventually), was $17K. Insurance was happy to pay it.

I have spoken to several drivers who were homeowners or knew one, had a leak, did not have mitigation, and now have serious mold issues. You cannot sell a house with mold; it is unsafe to live in and mold cleanup costs a fortune.

This, kids, is why it is so important to have good insurance vs cheap. Do I think it was a $17K job? No, it seemed more in the $5-6K range, but I didn't pay. Insurance haggled it out with them and then for some unknown reason gave me the money to pay them. Which I did the minute they called me with a total.

I feel like you all want me to have this large sum and I just don't. After mitigation, drywall repair, flooring, and paint I am left with enough for some switchplates. I had to go begging for curtains... to my stepmother. That doesn't speak to my budget? I am sitting here in my chair hoping I can get curtain rods for my bedroom before the flooring arrives. Because I am not going to spend the last of it until flooring is done and I can make my last payment to Carlos. I don't want to pay a handyman to come in after Carlos is done because he will likely do it for free if I have them available. He wants the place to look good. Curtains may have to wait (I am OK with that I am still getting them) but I need those rods up! I can't do that and Ron can't either. He was able to install the rod in the front room many years ago and did an excellent job. But those days are past.

One thing we lack, and I would ask God for, is a good basic handyman who can do those little jobs. Greg was great for a while and did a fantastic fix in the bathroom with the shower curtain rod and some closet brackets. That rod will never fall and I could probably do pull ups. But his work has really deteriorated of late and I have specifically told Ron I am done calling him.

It looks good. I really like the aqua in the laundry room.

Orange is my favorite color, so I like the orange room too.

Are you on Nextdoor.com?

Heather Knits said...

Yes, I am on Nextdoor. I was very happy with Carlos came off Angie's list so I will likely use them again.

Anonymous said...

You should try Nextdoor for a handyman, usually lots of them local for those small jobs.

You have blinds, why do you “need” curtains ?

Friend is back said...

Who are these people who think. Your finances are any of their business ? It is like the old crows on the muppet show ? Remember or are you too young? They sat up in the oprah box bitching about everything.
You are a big girl and can stand up for yourself and block what you want ..but as nasty as this particular “anonymous” it is sad they probably are very lonely and this is the only stimulation the get.

It will be wonderful when your room is your own bed and all ..but now you have the cots for the cats LOL! Too funny

Heather Knits said...

Damn straight.

Yeah, the cats sleep in both cots now, or 3 in one as I showed in the photo.

Heather Knits said...

I prefer the look of curtains and need light blocking if I have a migraine.

Just put up some blankets

I just got rid of the sheet over the curtain rod in the computer room LOL so tacky.
