Seriously Heather putting your real name on the internet is just not a good idea. Please stop thinking God wants you to do things as foolish as this. He doesn't.
I was myself on Facebook. Someone from a low carb message board (where I first got the Houston Heather handle) friended me. All her friends saw it was me and some of them friended me. At any rate, I accepted the friend requests because I knew them. I was off the message board at the time (very long story).
One day, Deb, God love her, copied an entire post with my FULL NAME to the message board. I did not know she had done this because I wasn't on the board any more. I found out a year and a half later. By then, my full name had been out there for a year and a half - damage done.
Also, if that weren't enough, if you type in "Heather 'Bible Handout' Facebook" I come right up. So much for private! That's what I mean; I wasn't private to begin with. It took me 30 seconds to find myself just now.
A motivated, bad person could have found me anyway. I'm not worried. It's actually a big relief. I can talk about living in Northwest Houston, going to the mall, name the stores I shop, etc. I love it.
I already give out my address to anyone who wants to send me Bibles - with my name - so why hide. Plenty of bloggers out there use their full names. I'm not doing anything illegal; no firearms, only take my prescriptions, no I'm not a target.
Heather, I agree with you. More than 30 years ago, back during the days of CompuServe and the dial-up Bulletin Board Systems, I made the decision that I was not going to try to conceal my true identity online--and I never have, except for those few venues and forums which require as a matter of policy that you not use your real name to participate. I understand that there are risks associated with this. I accept the risks.
