Poor bisciut. No doubt his diet has a lot to do with it. Too many treats, dry foods and not enough water. Honestly if it werent fir their excessive treats they would not be getting enough to eat. If you continue with the dry you may have to add water to it. Hopefully the little guy gets better and stays that way.
He loves his dry food. We keep two water bowls filled at all times and plenty of litter boxes. Some male cats are just unlucky.
Vet prescribed a dry food for him. Only Biscuit is to eat it. I will have to feed the other cats in another room. The dry food looks really good so I'll just pray he'll eat it.
Biscuit is a cat who loves to eat. He will put his front paws in the food bowl, even. I hope this transition goes smoothly.
I was feeding canned food for dinner every night. Dry in the morning (1/2 cup for all), canned food for dinner, they seemed happy with that.
Sending you and biscuit lots of love and cuddles . I hate how folks who comment always want to blame you for everything , no wonder you worry what people think of you . How about a live and let live you know Heather is doing the best she can and has to choose her battles the cats would have been eating garbage if she had not rescued them. Glad he is ok !
Giving 3 cats one can of cat food is ridiculous. That is not enough food they should all be getting 1 - 2 cans each. If not for all the treats ( which are bad for cats) they would starve
1/2 cup dry, one can from me. Treats from Ron. They are all obese. You have seen the photos. The vet wants them eating a lot less food so I did that. Unfortunately they are clever beggars and go crying to Daddy for treats.
That has got to stop or Biscuit's going to end up with another catheter.
Vet says what I am feeding is OK. I will have to change how I feed so Biscuit only eats his prescription diet. I also plan to buy one of those cat fountains for him.
I am going to go with what the DVM said on the feeding. :)
"Vet says what I am feeding is OK." really so your vet thought 1 can of wet food and 1/2 cup of dry food for 3 cats was acceptable? If that is true than your vet is a freaking moron. Not to mention why won't you disclose how many treats Ron gives these cats a day. How many bags/boxes/packages of treats does he go through in a month?
Adding a cat fountain is all well and good if he will actually use it. But adding water to his dry food would be a better so he is getting added water to his diet.
If by DVM you are referring to the packaging on the bag of cat food then you will more than likely overfeed him as they seem to overestimate on the amount required. But why bother with the DVM you are obviously not adhering to it based on what you are feeding 3 cats. I really just can't get over the lack of food for these cats and the fact that they are still overweight. No doubt Ron is to blame for this. He is a selfish man.
Vet said max 1/4 cup dry per cat. The prescription formula is different so Biscuit will be getting "more" - at least until the "fat boy with urinary trouble" prescription food comes in.
My cats are all in good health, with beautiful fur and eyes, good energy. I feel OK about how I am feeding them.
Why wont you say how many bags of treats ron goes through with the cats? Just because the cats look ok on the outside does not mean everything is ok on the inside. As you see with biscuit and his crystals because of to much dry food and tteats and not drinking water.
I honestly don't keep track of the treats. I will be buying smaller packages now.
I told Ron to think of Biscuit with a catheter, the next time he wanted to give him treats. Ron cringed and said he would not be treating Biscuit. I believe him.
Personally, I think it was the "new" treat I bought a while back, "Shrimpy Shrimp" Temptations. I had been feeding those to everyone for a few weeks when Biscuit got sick.
Temptations are really bad for cats. Is biscuit home now? Since you have started cooking I find the best treats are some chicken cooked without seasoning. Cut up into bite sized pieces when cooled and frozen. Then yiu just give them a few everyday. No bad ingredients and all natural. My cats love chicken this way. Cats cant eat anything with onion or garlic but dont seem to mind the unseasoned chicken. They gave a fancy feast version but the cost per pound was insane and cheaper to make myself.

Cats do not drink enough to compensate for a dry food diet. You need to mix water with the dry food. He will eat it and get more water in his diet.

Another reason to put Ron up for adoption
How many treats do they get a day? You are not feeding them enough real food. They should be limited to 4 treats a day
Ron feeds a lot more than 4 treats.

DVM is doctor of veterinary medicine, my vet.

Yup, he's home, chilling on his condo. He even ate his prescription food.
