Long time reader. Heather, I'm so so sorry. I've lost pets, and it never gets easier. Never.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
If there is anything I've seen from your blog it is that both you and Ron are kind to your pets. Very kind. Bubba went from a little furball under a truck to a member of a family. Don't forget that. He loved his life with you. Think of the good times and don't be ashamed to be depressed over Bubba.
It hurts, but putting a hurt animal to sleep is the right thing. Again, it never is easy, but I like to think of it this way... the animal dies a painless death, surrounded by loved ones. We all have to die, but not all of us get to die in such a good way. You and Ron did well by him.
