Sad

Last night we went out for seafood.  I had an appetizer, main course, and dessert.  I figured I earned it.

However, all that grease didn't digest very well.  I had trouble with indigestion and had to get a couple swigs of Pepto.  I had a little trouble sleeping.

I woke up later (9) today and did my usual routine, shower, God Time, computer (the routine for my day off).  I took a nap for a couple of hours but was awakened by the #6 kids yelling in the yard when they got home from school.  It is really hot out, I had to wonder why they were out there instead of their air-conditioned playroom.

Ron has been drinking all day, back to his usual levels.  He is belligerent, abusive, and angry.  It's just ugly.

I have to go to bed early, mostly due to the fact I have to get up early too.  But I am also going to bed early because I want to avoid him.

I find that sad.

What I find even sadder is your refusal to leave him. Take the cats and go.

I am doing the same thing a thousand miles away, like thousands of other people living in domestic abuse situations because we feel owness of our commitments at the loss of ourselves. sending love and empathy

Sounds like he is what they call a "mean drunk"
It's not him, it's the alcohol.

Strong drink is a "mocker"
Maybe he would like to have that Bible verse read to him...maybe not. (Hugs)

About the Bible verse, Ron, like some Christians, cherry picks the Bible. He quotes a verse from Second Timothy, have a little wine for your stomach's sake, and the miracle where Jesus turned water into wine.

He has interpreted that to mean binge-drinking hard liquor is practically a sacrament. A guy from the church came over about 4 years ago, I think. He confronted Ron about his drinking and said he was worsening my depression. Ron totally blew him off.

And he is more likely to listen to a stranger than me.

I wish I could say he is JUST a "mean drunk" but he can be verbally abusive sober. He's just a lot worse drinking.

Anyone who can say something like "just leave him" knows nothing about domestic abuse. There are as many reasons we stay as there are victims of abuse .. no one can say "oh it will not happen to me or I would just leave him" because you have no idea how it weaves its way in and how broken folks like us are.
