Friday morning lentil disappointment

I'll start with what I don't like.  My primary boss took some time off so the "nice" one is covering.  She is very pleasant to work with.  She doesn't tolerate dead weight (and she shouldn't) or legacy crap so she is tough but fair.  If I could pick my boss it would be her.  Former employees of her still come by to chat, she is a very good listener.

When I talk to her it's mainly cat gossip.  Anyway yesterday she was working near me when her boss came by.  Higher up boss was criticizing her in front of me which I feel is very unprofessional, but seems to be a Hallmark at my store.  "Got a problem?  Tell them in front of God and everyone".  I walked away (I could) and did my best to ensure her dignity.

I got a lot of work done because I had my equipment.  It was a long day but I did it.

The friend who was giving me rides has a sick husband so I called Ace.  He came, which was great as the weather was miserable (cold, rain, wind).  I told him about the black cat.

That's about my only gossip, cat gossip.  People seem to enjoy it.

I had set up some lentils in the crock pot.  I had my doubts about it.  I like a very mushy bean.  I don't like beans with firmness in them.  When I got home the lentils had been cooking on low for about 10 hours.  They were mostly cooked but rather firm and a little crunchy.  They were edible but not really to my taste.

This morning I put my hair back after I got up (I always do when I cook) and put the lentils on the stove with a little added seasoning and a little more water.  That should do the trick.

This weekend I might try cooking some on high, at home, see how that works.  But for now lentils are not going in the crock pot again.  These will be done before I go to work.

I'll get a value meal at work (that's my Friday thing) and then eat some lentils when I get home tonight.  My boss was going to try to "fix" the schedule so I work later on Saturday which would be great.  I really don't want to get up at 3-4 AM on Saturday after working until 9 PM on Friday night.  I'll do it, just not really excited about it.

Yesterday we didn't have a lot of customers really, due to the weather.  The ones we did have just mainly seemed to be walking around and cruising the store.  We had some manic homeless people from the encampment come through but security took care of them.  I am glad I got my little space heater when I did.

I haven't gotten my gas and electric bills yet, by the way.

That's it for now.
