So I started some simple crochet projects. I also have found I like to do some cooking when I get home. You would think that's the last thing I want, but it's not.
I finished the spaghetti tonight and got 7 containers in the freezer, the one in the fridge will be tomorrow's lunch. I also made the beef/barley/vegetable soup which is almost done. I missed a couple things I wanted to add but it's not a big deal. It has plenty of vegetables.
I took a photo of the pasta with the meat sitting on it - and let me tell you that is an ILLEGAL amount of meat - and sent it to Buddy along with a little remark about taking his advice on putting all 3 sausages in it. Then, I realized, to my horror, I had sent him FOOD P*RN. I never thought of it like that but I was struck and very uncomfortable.
Here's the offending image. I cut up the Italian sausage because it looks like Man Parts and I get funny looks when I eat it at work.
And I am sure he will say something Monday. He told me he doesn't like to (respond to) text. But he hasn't told me to stop sending one now and then, either. I do maybe 2 a month.
The crumbles are just a basic pork sausage. The red sausage is Zummo's Party Time links. I cut them up and sauteed them in the skillet. They would also be really good whole, on a hot dog bun, in my lunch one day. The grayish sausage is the Italian Sausage. You can't see it but I use rotini for the pasta. And I doctored the Hunt's Traditional in a can with a little added garlic and onion, and the addition of some Italian herbs. I had about 6 ounces of sauce in each bowl.
The bowls were so full I had to take everything out, put it in a bigger bowl, mix it, add the sauce, mix again, and put back. But it looked really good when I put the lids on and stuck it in the freezer. I found a little sauce in the freezer which is good because I ran out. The sauce cooked down more than I expected.
The store only had the quick cooking barley. I remember I used to go to Safeway when I lived in CA and get a bag of barley grain I would have to cook about an hour. This says it is ready in 10 minutes.
That's it for now.
