Speak of the devil

First, woke up with a migraine around midnight, using Kratom to treat it.  It is better but I will not be working out.

Second, I just mentioned my (half) sister the other day.  I unfriended her on Facebook back in 2013.  You can imagine my shock when I saw a post of hers on our mutual niece's timeline.  I went and looked at her timeline, a bunch of crap about "family has the same roots" etc.

God, I hope not. I really pray that is not the case. Divorced her husband after over 25 years because she was told he was autistic.  She had to know he was different when she married him.  I watched them together the last time, and it was clear he worshiped her.  He couldn't take his eyes off of her, followed her around, etc.  I'm not saying he was perfect but she had plenty of baggage of her own, including being a hoarder.

But he's "broken" and "can't be fixed" so throw him out!  Goodbye!

I know people expected me to do that with Ron, but that's not who I am.  After the accident, and now.

One thing I didn't like about my sister - she gossiped.  I shared some information with her on the phone one time when she had other people in the room.  We were talking about some of the side effects of Risperdal, and I mentioned I would make weird green milk on occasion, a fact she just HAD to repeat and share with everyone in the room.  I was pretty angry.

Another time I mentioned a medical fact about Ron, not one he likes to advertise, she kept bringing it up (it had nothing to do with sex).

I only have 2 FB people in common with her, I believe I will hide them so I don't have to see any more of her posts.  I am just not in the mood.

I feel like I got a win with Ron's nutrition recently.  I had a little time to shop the last time we went to Walmart, and I found some Bridgeford Teriyaki meat sticks.  He loves their teriyaki jerky, so I figured the meat sticks might be a win, too.  He ate the entire bag, loads of protein, but I won't tell him that.  I will just say "they are pretty good for you".  He liked the fact he could keep them in his room.  Awesome.

I feel somewhat like the mother of a very picky toddler might.  Trying to get him to eat the right foods, tricking him into eating his macros every day.  He won't do protein shakes, I have tried, but I can get him to eat meat snacks.

I am rethinking the purple hair.  I don't want to do anything permanent, and the website says there is no promise it will wash out.  That's something to think about, my hair is about 2 feet long now and I would rather not cut it off.

I slept OK last night but woke up with the migraine around 12 midnight, took some Kratom, went back to bed, slept VERY well for 5 hours, woke up at 5, saw Ron, took more Kratom and went back to bed.  I did not sleep as well that time and woke up after 2 hours. I will take some more in half an hour if I need it.  So far I am up to 2 grams total.  Can do up to 8 grams a day, I've been told.

I gave Ron some "chocolate" Kratom at 5, he asked for it by name.  He said he slept very well and is not in any pain.  We were just talking about trips for tomorrow.  If I go out, it will have to be the morning, but he said he would give me cab fare for Walmart.

I need to get another pair of shoes because Biscuit ruined my one pair, I like to rotate between 2 pair.  And Ron could use some more meat sticks.  I don't really need groceries.

I thought it was funny Ron put the Shrimpy Shrimp 1 pound container into the big canister.  I thought we were done with that container.  But he says he likes it better and will use it for the shrimp treats.

Now that is interesting, I went back to FB and the post from my sister is gone.  I guess FB forgot we were unfriended but STILL going to block the niece.  My great niece is cool, I like her, and they are not "friends" but the niece is so away you go.

My headache is not wanting to quit.  I think the right dose is 2 grams, not 1.  I will know for next time.  But I would rather start slow and work my way up.

Ugh.  I just hate the whole sluggish "I'm sick" feeling.

Wednesday afternoon

I feel like answering comments today has been my other job!

I hope I got it all.

We got up very early, went to work, came home.  I took a nap and woke up with a headache.  I drank a soda and got dressed, decided to go out.

Ron and I are in agreement we do NOT want to "make someone work" tomorrow, so we will stay home.  That meant any fun had to happen today or Friday.

I was thinking about the parfait they have at the gas station.  It recently got bought by a 7-11 and has very good parfaits, and, for me, they have plenty of non-chocolate varieties.

Nothing is worth a week long migraine.  Nothing, that includes chocolate.

I figured I would walk over there (I still have one good pair of sneakers after the one Biscuit ruined).  I did that, it was hot and humid, pretty sunny, but not bad.  I always have an "eeky" moment as I walk over the bayou because traffic and heights together!

I didn't used to have issues with walking near traffic, but Ron's accident really did a number on me.  It is unpleasant walking over the bayou but doable, I just keep going.  I know, if I stop, I'll freak out completely.

I should add here all I had to eat today was a protein shake, some diet soda, and a handful of queso chips.

Anyway, I have always had issues since I fell down a flight of stairs as a toddler, trying to follow my mother.  I cried, she just walked away.  Eventually I got up and went back up to the main part of the house but always afraid of heights after that.

I got there safely and saw the same manager I had last time.  I greeted her.  She is fine with me hanging out in the seating area and consuming my purchases.  She is very nice and understands more of my situation than I think she lets on.

I got a soda and looked at the parfait.  They had a strawberry shortcake one.  Normally I am not into strawberry flavors but I do like the fresh berry, which they had.  It looked tasty.  I added it to my drink and got in line.  I paid, told her "He is being good today" and sat down.  It was delicious.  I looked at the nutrition label, 500 calories.  Not bad considering.  It was a nice portion, hearty but just filling, not too much, not too little.  I hope 7-11 doesn't mess that up.

I finished and bought a refill on my drink, left, and came home.  I saw the mail truck so I waited about 20 minutes, went out and saw her.  Nothing fun.

Ron was in the kitchen drinking and feeding the girls cat treats.  I fed Biscuit when I got home.  So far he is pretty much eating his own food, although he will steal a bite of senior formula from Torbie if I turn my back.

Ron went back to bed, he is quiet now.  I am looking at hair color online.  I don't want to do permanent dye but I found a "color depositing conditioner".   That sound like it might work, it just washes out.  I am thinking, hard.

I have a bad habit of dying my hair when I'm manic, "sobering up" and saying "What the hell did I do to my hair?!"  I think the worst was the henna.  It looked great, nice and red over the brown, but I had to keep doing it and it took hours.  I am not a pampering type.  I don't do well just sitting around getting my nails done (did that the day of my wedding), feet, hair, anything like that.  I was raised by a man and I am just more practical.

But I have white streaks in my hair and I think they would look AWESOME as purple streaks.  I can afford the dye, that isn't a problem.  It's a commitment issue: do I want to commit to purple hair for the duration?  It does wash out when I get sick of it.

Some interesting notes on hair color: my stepmother has red hair, my biological mother had brown but began dying it blond when the gray came in.  I don't want brown, red, or black hair.

Happily this is the worst problem on my plate today.

Most of Wednesday

I slept about 4 hours last night, Ron did not sleep at all.  He couldn't get his cable box to work, either.

I helped him fix it (trouble shoot, it wasn't getting power) when I got up, then shower and the first of many caffeine drinks.  Got him dressed, etc.

He doesn't need help with much but always the t-shirt.  He is a medium but I buy him large shirts, with a pocket, that's all he wants.  We have a casual dress code so that is fine.  But he always needs help getting it pulled down.  He could do it on his own but it is much harder and more painful, so of course I help.

I don't want to be one of those spiteful people.

He was decent to me all day which I appreciated.  Our ride was on time and we picked up "the princess", the one with the very important lunch box that gets it's own seat, wants to sleep on the van and shush everyone if they peep, etc.  Just not what I consider a good seat mate.  Get your sleep at night in bed, not on the van.  But some people try to do that.

I do not let them.  So she doesn't like us much.  But she is a young woman living with other adults who pay all the bills, it would be very easy to go to bed early and get enough sleep, if she cared to do so.  But don't stay up late and then demand we all creep around you the next morning.  Nope, not going to happen.

We picked up an old man for dialysis who was very nice, she tried to shush him when he spoke to me but I kept talking to him.  He sat next to me, I liked him.  We dropped him off, then her, then we went to work around 5 AM.

The driver kept compulsively eating and drinking snacks, one after the other, bite, drink, rummage in the bag for more, I didn't feel 100% safe but not enough to object.  Just glad to exit.

We got to work.  Snacks still looked good after my "big stock" on Monday.  Everyone who can, has taken the week off.

I helped Ron with sodas, the canned soda repairs "kept" so we have 3 functional machines.  We did that, got the delivery around 7, put that away.  I like the driver, he is a very nice man.  We got him paid, got our receipt.  We should be done for weeks now.

The other vendor's employees were there but we didn't have many traffic jams, we all share the same stockroom.  The other vendor gets most of it but we get enough to make it work.

Then we waited on our repairman for the bottled drink machine.  I had noticed the temperature creeping up so I wanted to address that before something burned up.  Apparently a new compressor is $800 now.  Ouch.

I sent another picture message of my hand holding "his" money so he said he was coming.  But we had to wait a while.

I didn't mind, I know he generally starts around 8:30-9, but my feet were killing me in my work boots so I sat down outside work, on one of the steps.  A couple minutes later I saw him coming, pulling his case of tools.  I had to struggle to my feet, not pretty, elegant, or safe, but I got up without hurting myself.  I felt very old trying to do that.

I got him in there.  The compressor was covered in about 3 inches deep of crud, he had to scrape it all off and then clean the condenser.  He did that.  He also fixed a "bad slot" which had been bothering us for a while but not really enough for a repair on it's own.  All the other machines were fine.  We paid him, got our receipt, escorted him out the door.

None of our guys, delivery or repair man, are allowed "loose" in the building, they have to be escorted.  They didn't used to care 20 years ago but the events of 2001 changed that.   He's off.

I quickly put up the carts, got some drinks for us.  I was over my caffeine allowance by about 80 mg, not great, but not horrible either.  I had a lot of caffeine drinks today.

I had Ron call Arturo while I put everything away.  I had time to pee before we left.  You can bet I am always diligent about washing my hands because the customers are watching!  ONCE I saw a food service walker use a toilet and walk out of the bathroom without washing, I never ate at that restaurant again.

We got out and I sat down again - this time on the bench, and Arturo came in about 5 minutes.  While we waited Ron asked me about tipping, he didn't want to overtip and upset me, but wanted to "recognize" his work and responsiveness.  I was fine with a fairly generous tip so we agreed on that and Ron gave me the money.

Arturo came, we got Ron stuffed in the back seat, wheelchair put up (never an attitude from Arturo about the wheelchair), I got in and off we went.  A quick ride home and we paid him and left.  I felt good about what we gave him, about 25% of the fare.

The garbage had come so I put Ron in the garage and put up the cans, then took him inside.  Biscuit was eager for Second Breakfast and so was Baby Girl.  I fed the cats, I think Ron had a drink or 2, and then we each took a nap.  I slept hard and woke up with a headache.

I had some more caffeine (not crazy about that) and got online.  Ron was awake watching TV.  He just has the cable box and a pair of headphones coming out of it. It works for him.  It does baffle the repair guys sometimes.  They have to borrow my TV and put it with his box.  But they are good about putting it back.

Ron has had some trouble sleeping so I didn't give him any kratom today, he didn't ask.  As I said he is only getting minimal doses, only when he asks, generally 1-2 times a day max, and only when in pain.  I don't want him to suffer, that's why I started the whole Kratom thing anyway.

We have tomorrow off.  Not sure what we are doing, it is only 2 PM so plenty of time to make a trip.  Since we both work retail we are strongly inclined NOT to "bother" any retail/restaurant workers.  We know what that is like to have to work on a holiday and then everyone is a jackass.  So not doing that.  Not sure what we will do, I may have some hot dogs in the fridge.  Currently the plan is for us to have Friday off so we will see.

We also need to work on the monthly report at some point, get that filed.  I have to see my doctor next week Tuesday so that will be interesting.  I almost forgot to budget for that, but remembered at the last minute.  I will also need to buy my medication but it hasn't been much.  That's the nice thing about taking "old" generics.

The weather looks pretty nice right now so I think I will walk up to the gas station and get a treat, then walk back.  I will get a treat, and my cardio.  It is certainly do able.

I told Ron Biscuit ruined a pair of shoes.  He loves to scratch his claws on my shoes when I'm wearing them.  It actually feels good when he does it, like a massage, but he shredded my white sneakers pretty bad.  I had to throw them out.

Will I discipline him again for scratching on a $17 pair of sneakers?  Probably not.  I can always get new shoes but only one Biscuit, and he's just so happy when he does it.  Who could yell at that face?  Only a monster!

I'm a sucker for a pretty face.  :)

Tuesday afternoon

Ron had made a trip to go out, around 3.  I got him ready and he told me he was having severe spasms in his leg.  I gave him some Kratom which helped.  He mixed it with alcohol which is not ideal but, I feel, FAR safer than his former practice of mixing the pain pills and alcohol.

God doesn't want him yet, that's the only way I figure he hasn't killed himself.

We had to wait an hour because the driver was very late.  I was pretty frustrated.  So was Ron, he was yelling at God  The good news the rain shower had time to move through before our ride but we did lose power for a while.  It didn't matter, we were outside.

Our driveway is bordered by grass on both sides, wide enough for 2 cars.  The driver finally showed up and parked with the driver's side on the grass.  There was lots of free space on the passenger side, but a passenger in the back passenger side.  So I asked the driver to move, so Ron could safely enter the vehicle.  She was very annoyed but did so.

You really don't want him to fall, he moans and cries a lot when in pain and he is a bleeder.  It would just be all around awful if he did go down.  Better to move the car.

She was annoyingly bright and cheerful for someone who was an hour late.  At least act sorry, or say so, or even better tell me "I'm sorry, but I just got the trip 10 minutes ago".  That would be great.  But don't act like you're [censored] early.  'Cause that's an hour of my life I won't get back.

I will say it did give time for the Kratom to work.  Ron had trouble with his seatbelt so she helped him.  We got a straight trip to the BBQ place, it is only a couple of miles away.

She thought they were closed, it was pretty dead out front.  But we went in and they were happy to see us.  We were seated.  It was dinner time, and at dinner they do steaks.  It was not a steakhouse item, but a nice little palm sized steak cooked to order and well seasoned.  I got Ron to eat a bite, a corner of it was well done, which I don't like, so we both won.

I got him to eat a lot of shrimp, a rib, the bite of steak, some cornbread, and some pineapple.  I had some blackened fish to start.  I find it very tasty and get it every time.  Normally I loathe fish so I find that funny.  I also got some mac and cheese and potato salad.  It was good.  My steak came out and I greeted it happily, cut it up, served the well-done corner to Ron (he prefers tough meat) and ate mine.  It was good.

I had some dessert, he did not.  It was good.  We had a good meal.  I got him to pay the credit card bill and I called the vet.  Biscuit has a reservation for our business conference.  I can't leave him alone on a special diet, and he should really be monitored.  It is safer to board him, so I will.  They loved him and spoiled him rotten last time they had him so I feel good about doing this.  It will not be cheap but he is my Golden Kitty and worth it.  He is "extra" and just such a good boy I never mind throwing money at him.  Like I said, he's worth it, and most importantly he is not suffering.

So I got that done.  I will see them in 2 weeks.  They want stool samples.  That will be fun to retrieve.  I will put any samples in a different bag from the chocolate candy I plan to deliver!

I am glad that is done now so I don't have to worry if they will have space available later.  Now I know they will.  I venture it will cost me about $100 but I can save it.

My motto for the cats is pretty much "Whatever it takes".

We had a straight trip home which was nice.  We had lost power earlier but gotten it back by the time we got home, so we could go in through the garage door as usual.

Ron is thrilled his cable is fixed so he has something to do.  He is in bed right now.

I sent the repairman a picture of his money and reminded him to meet us tomorrow.  He said he would.  [grin]  It looked pretty nice in the picture.

Tomorrow we get up VERY early, go to work, get the soda delivery, stock if we need it, and meet the repairman.  Then we go home.  I think that is it for the day.

I am leaning towards just never having any afternoon trips on paratransit because they all, universally, suck so bad.  They are all awful, no one is on time.  I don't know what it is.  Sometimes with the slow clients in a group home the driver has to wait with the client for the group home to open, if the provider isn't there yet, they can't leave the client so they have to sit there for half an hour waiting for them to show up.  That may be a part of it.  The group homes take advantage of it.

Things would have to be very bad before I put Ron in a group home.  What I have seen they are all just awful.

Ron is happy enough at home with his cat, his talking book machine, music, and his cable.  Most of the time Ron is pretty content.  But when he gets frustrated he will not shut up.  Kind of like me.  I admit it.

Anyway, I have to get up in 6 hours so I had better get to bed.

Not a great morning

Pretty upset right now.

I woke up at 6, took until 7 to get it going, did my workout, took a shower, dressed, got Ron dressed.

Ron was angry about something, I reminded him I am the only one helping him.  He snapped at me, and got progressively uglier.

I would think he would want to be nice to the only person helping him, and that's all I do.

Anyway, I passed him in a narrow area and he kicked out his leg as I passed.  Accidentally, I believe.  It didn't have much force.  "Hey" I said "Don't kick me".

"I'll slap you if I want!"
"And I'll file charges!"
"That's the only reason I don't (do it)!"

Nice.  Whatever happened to being nice to, and treating, your wife with respect because she is, after all, the only one helping you?  Because you LOVE her?  He is a big one for these heartfelt declarations of love now and then, with a little speech on how lost he'd be without me, but I don't see him putting it into practice.

I was just utterly disgusted.  He apologized later, without prompting.  A couple of times.  I told him "I'm not infinite, and there's a point where I walk away".

Somehow I think he is trying to make that happen, that he has a script in his head that has me walking away "And then I end up in my nursing home".  How do you battle something like that?  I feel like I'm telling him how to drive me off so he can 'get what he wants".

It is sad, nauseating, and disgusting.  I actually feel sorry for him right now because all he has is me.  I am not 100% all the time as we saw from my posted comment.  But I think I'm pretty dependable.  I may need a nap, but I'm there.

Anyway, I'm going to try and get a nap.  #6 has apparently decided they aren't working this week, the work truck is parked in front of the house.  Must be nice to get all that time off your cash job, when you're getting welfare.  When your neighbors have to get up at 3 AM tomorrow to pay YOUR bills.

The tech did fix Ron's cable so he can use it now, he was a very nice man and we did not let our tension spill over.

My apology

I am really sorry about that, I accidentally published a private message.  I just can't think after I take my evening pills and I got publish button and delete mixed up.  I am sorry.  I did delete it the second I caught it.  To my credit, I have gotten private messages before and handled them correctly, it was just a case of 'pill fog".  Yet another reason I'm not having kids.

I slept OK last night but Ron did not.  He got into the vodka the minute he got up.  He wanted me to check the room, it is a mess but not a hazard, and not fresh smelling.  I will hit it with some Febreeze before they come out.  I went ahead and did some now, I will do more later.

I did a patrol and picked up one objectionable item.  The rest of the room is OK, not great.  I moved something so the tech can walk over to his box.

Hopefully this will be a pretty quick fix.

And I need to get to my workout.  It is not going to do itself.

Monday, crazy, but not manic

I forget how I slept, it's been such a busy day.  I did not take my "morning" pills until well after 1, that busy.

Normally Ron and I live quiet little lives.  I like it like that.  Today was different.

We got up at 4, got ready, went to work.  We stocked, oh, did I stock.  Ron did all his work pretty much yesterday but I worked my butt off stocking.  I stocked everything.  Candy bars, chips, crackers, you name it.  If it could vend, I stocked it.

We had 1 repairman out who fixed the two soda machines.  The other guy is coming Wednesday.  Tuesday night I will send him a picture message of his money to remind him!

I did all that.  Then we went to the bank and turned our money into something more spendable than $1 bills.  I love $1 bills, but not for my entire paycheck.  We did that.  We went to the pharmacy.  Some drama around that but Ron "walked" out with his medication so a win.  Stupid opiate laws.  They only allow him less than 2 pills a day and then they make him crawl and beg to get that.  No wonder I got the Kratom.

Then we went to Walmart.  I parked Ron out of the way and basically got a whole lot of Diet Mountain Dew, I love the stuff.  For whatever reason they will not deliver that.  I also got a 6 pack of Diet Dr Pepper just to keep things interesting.  I got some tea mix and another bottle of juice to become a urinal.

I bought all that and left it with Ron.  Then I went to my bank and started to make my deposit, remembering, at the last minute, I had to put enough for my autopays (cell phone, etc.).  So I did that.  I should be good for a while.

It is likely we will make a Chewy order as we are "low" on treats.  Baby Girl, in particular, is extremely partial to Shrimpy Shrimp so I will see if Ron wants to get some for her - Chewy has a 1 pound canister as opposed to the large canister, or the pouch.  I think the one pound canister is better for a couple of reasons I won't mention.  I wouldn't mind paying for that.  It ships fast, too, we are literally one day away from their facility.

Deposit finished, we waited on our ride and went home.  My feet were killing me, I had been wearing my work boots through all this.  Oh, so good to take those socks off and walk on my cool tile floor!  Even better to lie down for a nap with Biscuit!

Ron gave up in finding his lost item and called the cable company for a replacement, not consulting me, and making an appointment for tomorrow morning.  A little annoyed BUT it is supposed to rain tomorrow anyway.  And I can go out in the afternoon if I really want.

But, I went to Walmart and made my deposit, so I am good.  I just got a huge (for me) grocery delivery.  I have 2 pints of ice cream in the freezer.  I am set on "things".

"Activity" not sure.  I would like to get some more Kratom.  It worked really well for my headache that time (happily only once) and has continued to work well on Ron's pain.  I can't tell you how happy that makes me.  Ron can be a very good man and I do love him, and I would never want him to suffer.  So I'm happy it works and is legal in Texas, and I have a provider right next door in San Antonio.

I do have 2 ounces of powder and am considering buying a capsule machine, to put the powder into capsule.  I can only find one thing to complain about with kratom: the taste is horrendous.  Far better to take some capsules, especially since you'll only be taking it when you're already suffering.  The powder costs about half what the capsules do, so I can see why some people do take it.  But - shudder - the taste is not pineapple.

I went to sleep.  Ron made some noise so I got up and checked on him, I was worried about him drinking himself on the floor.  He was still pretty sober and got to bed just fine on his own.  I slept about an hour and woke up right before the yard guys came through.

Whenever I get down about "immigrants" they come by to remind me there are some awesome ones in the bunch.  I got dressed and took them some cold bottles of water, they won't take money because they adopted us.  I don't know what the guy at work told them about us but they have adopted us, do all our landscaping for free.  Rarely the husband/father will take a little cash "take your wife to dinner" but never if his wife is around, she forbids it.  They are very proud and very kind people, I really enjoy them AND they do a fantastic job and it's free.  They just show up whenever which is fine for us.

We certainly needed the visit.

The cats all fled, they are terrified of yard guy equipment, particularly leaf blowers.  If I were a sick and sadistic person I would get one for discipline.  But I love them and would never scare them on purpose.

So I have the rest of today off, some of tomorrow.  Like I said, not sure what I will do but I do need to talk to Ron about our treat situation.  We have plenty for Biscuit (those aren't cheap) but not a lot for the girls.  Torbie is a "me too" cat when it comes to treats, she always shows up by Ron's right foot when he's treating Baby Girl.

And Chewy is out of Shrimpy Shrimp.  BUT they have a lobster flavor.  I'll see what Ron wants, he is treat man.

He doesn't want to worry about it now, we still have some treats.  I just had a thought, Amazon.

Yup, they had them.  Free delivery because I have Prime.  SO I ordered 3 pounds.  That should hold us for quite a while, and the girls love the flavor.

Biscuit has plenty of prescription treats to last him a while.  He is mainly into his food, which as we know acts as medicine to him.  It's like he knows how good it is for him.

I am running the washer on a clean cycle because the manual said do it once a month, or every 6 loads, depending.  I run about 4 loads a month.  I also need to clean one of the water fountains and change the filter, I try to do it all on the first so I remember to do it, and what day.

Ron made a trip to the buffet place tomorrow so it will be pretty much me at home all day, not ideal but there is always Thursday.  I will let him know in strong terms: I want Thursday to myself.

My Dad would have a fit if I didn't stand up and take a day, he is very worried about me.  When we talked, I mentioned I had gone to a smaller size pant (not entirely, just in a couple of pairs) and he was thrilled.

I WAS going to work out but I am exhausted and my feet just stopped hurting.  Better to get up early tomorrow, on my day off, and do it.  I got all my "movement minutes" for the day anyway.  I am tired and very good odds I will go to bed early.

I need to take care of myself.
